![]() The reason after all the happened i’m still giving 5 stars is because i appreciate the owners taking responsibility and righting their wrongs. He was very sorry that happened and said he’s going to send a gift card in the mail in the hopes we come back, he refunded the whole bill and he also said he’s going to have a kitchen meeting. A couple days later the owner did call and apologize many many times. They took our name and number and address so the owner could call us later and they refunded the burger. A few minutes later we decided to call back and see if it was possible to have a refund if not no big deal. And sure enough the man i spoke to said let me check with the kitchen and he came back and said “unfortunately the onion rings are not gluten free but the bun is so you should be good with that” I simply said okay and hung up. We went to pick it up i did a quick look and on the box they wrote gluten allergy so i felt pretty safe, when getting to the hotel i realized there was onion rings on the burger.I thought there was no way they would give me a gf bun but put non gf onion rings on the burger but i called to be sure. The man i was speaking with assured me it would be all set. I had ordered the burger and informed them that I had celiac and clarified it was a severe gluten allergy incase they weren’t sure. We loved it so much we decided to get it for take out and eat it back in our hotel room. Both were absolutely delicious and I didn’t get sick. I went for lunch when I first arrived to Newport and had a Gluten free pizza and salad. If an entire bowl of gluten chips could to be given to us after my incessant questions to the waiter, the waiter supposedly labeling everything GF for the kitchen, and me DOUBLE CHECKING each item that came to the table, then I need to warn the GF and Celiac community. Every link in the chain to ensure we weren’t given gluten was broken. However, I still need to leave this review because NO ONE seemed to know what was going on. He appeared sincere and very sorry for our situation and asked if there is anything else he could do for us. I spoke to the owner who was extremely apologetic and assured me that immediate re-education would take place. I called the restaurant and was told they don’t have gluten free chips at all and that when the nachos are made GF, the chips aren’t given. When we got home, my daughter started vomiting and didn’t stop for hours. I have no idea if they are always served this way. The nachos were on two separate plates-one with just the chips and one with the nacho mixture which basically looked like shrimp in curry milk so I thought, okay that makes sense because the chips would get soggy if they were combined. We were very clear with the server and when the person from the kitchen (or a runner or another server) came out she said “here are your gluten free meatballs and gluten free nachos.” I then asked once again if they were gluten free. We ordered the meatballs and nachos, which are two apps labeled that they could be made GF. He checked with the kitchen a few times to make sure the condiments and other items were gluten free. When we got there, the server wasn’t knowledgeable but maybe he was new and I understand that. ![]() Before visiting this restaurant (on vacation) we looked on this app and called to ensure they could accommodate us. Just a thought regarding costs… here in Australia (VK) the initial set up costs are rather expensive. If you can find a local ham or two to coach you through the process, so much the better, but any way you do it, the important thing is to put in consistent daily practice, sustained over time. I encourage anyone so inclined to learn Morse. For some early practice sessions, some of us used 2m FM voice via a repeater to talk about things when our CW communications skills were insufficient, but we fairly quickly lost the need for voice backup. We weren’t quite within good FM range, and everyone in our group who was learning code was doing so with the goal of getting on HF, Everyone managed to scrape up some sort of 40m CW rig, even if it was only a 5W QRP rig into a simple wire antenna. But we eventually dropped the FM idea and got together for scheduled practice on 40m, using conventional CW. My local ham radio club had a group of Morse Code learners, and we tossed around the idea of using 2 meter FM for scheduled code practice sessions. It’s a simple kit to solder together in an evening. I have no affiliation, except as a customer. It’s available from HamGadgets, which his easy enough to find via your favorite search engine. Just hit your key to start sending, and stop manipulating the key to have the radio switch to receive mode. It will automatically hold the PTT closed while you’re sending letters, and for a little while afterwards, saving you the trouble of flipping a switch to go between transmit and receive modes. It has a mode where you can feed its key closure output to the PTT input of a radio, and feed the keyer’s audio into the radio’s microphone input. The Ultra PicoKeyer kit does this kind of thing well (as well as being a fine general-purpose memory keyer). Posted in Radio Hacks Tagged baofeng, morse code Post navigation Morse code can be a trial to learn, but spare a thought for the folks who had to pick it up back in 1939. Morse code has always been appreciated in situations where voice transmission is difficult due to low bandwidth or interference, and now it’s easy for new hams to give it a try. It’s a little different from the more typical constant-wave transmission methods that are so seldom used nowadays, but it gets the job done. A toggle switch is wired up to the Push-To-Transmit circuit of the Baofeng to trigger transmission when required. This audio is passed into the headset port of a Baofeng handheld transmitter. A Morse code training unit generates tones in response to input from a Morse keyer. Not to worry though, you can do that with a handheld, too! Of course, a major part of the amateur radio scene used to be Morse code. Powerful and capable UHF and VHF handheld transceivers can now be had for well under $100, something unimaginable as recently as 20 years ago. Both grizzled hams and potential future amateur radio operators are well-served by the market these days. ![]() Popular uses in many applications including Drifting, Rally racing, drag racing, and even off road and SXS racing to lock up the wheels independent from your brake pedal. This meant that loading times for games and other software that needed Flash to run were shorter. There are a number of reasons that Flash Player was so popular, one being that flash files were very small. It works by running content from SWF files, which is an Adobe specific file format for multimedia and animations. Located at the southeast corner bordering on Copley Square, the 60-story, 790-foot-high tower, according to local boards, violated zoning ordinances by exceeding height and bulk limitations and, above all, by its scale in relation to the monumental structures of Copley Square, the Boston Public Library ( BB42), and Trinity Church, Boston ( BB37). Now acknowledged as Boston's most extraordinary skyscraper, the Hancock was fraught with controversy from its inception in 1966. The greatest concentration of tall buildings, however, grew at the eastern end, from State Street to South Station. The Prudential Center ( BB79) and the Hancock were two of the earliest exemplars of this concept, reinforced by later, shorter commercial and apartment buildings. This spine would divide but respect the historic neighborhoods of Back Bay to the north and the South End to the south. City planner and MIT professor Kevin Lynch, a key member of this committee, envisioned a corridor of tall buildings stretching west from the financial district along the line of the underutilized railroad and recently completed Massachusetts Turnpike. In 1960–1961 a committee of the Boston Society of Architects developed recommendations for a new master plan for the central city. As the “New Boston” rose in the era of urban renewal, pressure to lift the historic height limitations increased. The city's commitment to height limits continued until the 1960s, reinforced by a long period of economic stagnation. First the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court in 1899 and then the United States Supreme Court on appeal in 1903 confirmed the constitutionality of height limitations, forcing the lowering of Westminster's top floor. The developers pushed ahead with their original design that exceeded this limit by six feet, forcing the attorney general to take them to court. While this new apartment hotel was under construction, the legislature enacted a ninety-foot limit for the buildings on the south and west sides of Copley Square. Ironically, the John Hancock Tower, still the tallest structure in New England, rises on the site of Westminster Chambers, the first building to challenge zoning height limitations following the crisis invoked by Haddon Hall ( BB19). Boston was a leader in resisting tall building throughout much of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. ![]() “I had been noticing a lot of real estate advertising about Rosario Candela buildings, and how they were being used as a marketing tool.
